Artist's Comments

I've always found it interesting that a man can go to war to defend his country, and kill many men whilst there. When he arrives home, he's heralded as a hero, as some kind of king for destroying people opposing him and his country's "best interests" in the midst of a battlefield. People idolise him for, in absolute essence, murdering another human being who has every right to life. Nevermind that this goes well against the laws of every "sane" country in the world, the killing of another, it doesn't seem to matter when it's commissioned. Now, when someone goes out to paint ART, a mural or a piece against that very same war, trying to spread some kind of message of peace and hope through the times of all of this permissible killing and idolism, they're considered little more than a rampant thug. An artist, someone who risks everything they have in exactly the same way a soldier would, to fight an enemy just as a soldier would to try and brighten the days of the rest of the people in the world. If that artist gets caught, they get thrown in prison.

Now ask yourselves this: what kind of world do we live in when mass-killings are okay and perfectly sane as compared to the human rights statutes and charters and laws, and someone creating ART in a perfectly legitimate artform is thrown to the dogs? A pretty fucked up one if you ask me.

It says "Bombing is Science" and "néqrz".

Very moving piece.
And I love all the colors. :]

I know you checked advanced critique but I'm going to comment anyway. It's a very moving piece, and you're one of the few I know who seems to publish art with a purpose. Many seem to think art should just be pretty when it can be so much more. Thoughtful piece and a great message.

Thats the graffiti world for ya.
A world of opposition, but its that opposition that makes ever small victory even sweeter.

Has an old school feel to it, the way the letter flow very freely, throwup style - they move, with energy - the colors help for sure too. I generally don't care for
graf/graff style art that is (for lack of more approproate term - sorry) cartoon based (sorry, really no offense meant!), but this is tops man. Leave the boxhead too.

Only advanced crtique would be to give the graff letters a bit more structure, and replace the font with a handstyle - but it would require either some labor intensive letter drawing or a really cool, uniuque font - but really that's only pickin' nits because it says "advanced critique" - you know I dig you stuff, even if it's been a while.

Props on the Aesop Rock quote too, very keen.

As for the state fo the world, no doubt bro, what a mess. There's Terrible things going on in many coutries, and sadly they'll get no attention because their lands hold no natural resources or stragic locations, so they continue to suffer. And that's not to say that any intervention would necessarily be a solution, but it might
at least put a strangle on some of the suffering, and save a few lives in spite of itself...

Hoping for a better day bro, keep up the work :peace:

Can't remember if it was you or some other person I talked about this, but if I ever do manage to create the dream house and family I dream of, my kids are going to be allowed to do whatever they want with their walls (NOT THE CARPET, THOUGH) - be it drawing, random painting, whatever.

XD

I'm gonna be the best art mum, EVER.
